Students not only learn the foundational principles of layered architectures, protocols, and techniques but also explore the advancements of future-proof network technologies employed in computer networks. The former focuses on protocols and mechanisms used in the Internet's TCP/IP protocol suite, including the design and operation of both wide-area and local-area networks. The latter investigates the groundbreaking capabilities of next-generation technologies. This includes understanding the high-speed potential and impact of Beyond 5G/6G Cores on future applications, mastering dynamic and programmable network control through Software-Defined Networking (SDN), exploring the virtualized solutions offered by Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and witnessing the transformative influence of AI in network operations from practical use cases. Lastly, the course introduces Model Context Protocol (MCP), which supports efficient interaction between AI models and dynamic network environments. This equips students with a well-rounded understanding, bridging traditional and next-generation concepts in computer networks. Lectures will be pre-recorded and uploaded, Q&A sessions will be held offline to support in-depth clarification.
